George
S. Balut
George S. Balut is the Senior National Director and
the U.S. Seminar Coordinator for the International Institute of Reflexology
(IIR). George began his career in Reflexology in the mid-1970s.
In 1979 he took his first seminar with the IIR and was certified in 1981. George began teaching with the IIR in 1983, throughout the
United States and Canada. In his
many years of teaching he has also taught classes in Australia, New Zealand and
England.
George’s passion has always been to teach others
what he knows. In college his major
was education, as many of us do however he got sidetracked and became an
accountant. After a few years of
accounting he found Reflexology to be what he needed to do.
His educational background, his love for anatomy, and passion to teach others makes him a natural for what he does today, teach. Beside, teaching for the IIR he also has found time to become involved with the development of Reflexology as a profession. George has worked to establish reflexology associations and organizations. He was there for what was the beginning of the International Council of Reflexologist in Denver, CO in 1989, on which board he served as a director. Co-founder of the American Reflexology Certification Board (ARCB) and has served as president since 1994. He helped to bring together with the help of other board members of ARCB, Reflexologists from across the United States to form the Reflexology Association of America (RAA) in 1994. He was co-writer of the bylaws for the RAA, and served as vice president for a two-year term. He now is a contributing editor to the RAA newsletter. George was also a founding member of the Ohio Reflexology Association, and served as vice president for two years. Besides his work with Reflexology George also runs an Herb and Vitamin business in Warren, Ohio, where he sees clients and lives with his family.
